Exporting and final suggestions

You now have a model that you are more or less satisfied with. You need to be able to get it off your computer and share it with the world! Here we make a few suggestions on how to set yourself up to do this easily, as well as a few other suggestions on improving your model outside of metashape

Exporting your model

To export your model You can export you model as a file by right clicking on the model in the let hand column, or going to the file>export>export model dropdown menu. I recommend the 'Binary gLTF (*.glb)' format, as it is designed to be portable and most software will be able ot import gltf formats.

Jazzing it up in blender

If you wish, you can export your model to spruce it up a bit in blender. I sometime use this step to add effects such as adding maps so that specific minerals reflect light, simulating the effect cleavage plane. More on this later!

Sharing your model

I've found that by far the most effective way to share your models is to create an account on Sketchfab, an online repository for 3D models. This will allow you to share your model through a web browser, as well as adding annotation and cool postprocessing effects. The easiest way is to sign into your account, and drag the gltf file to your browser. Another neat trick, if you do this often, is to do this in Agisoft Metashape, it has the ability to automatically upload your model to Sketchfab!
